Dear Abby
When i turn on my
left turn signal while traveling on a 2-lane one way road in the right lane, am I signaling my intent
to that I intend to change lanes?
because every time I turn on my left turn and when there is a car behind me, it immediately change lanes and pulls up beside me,
So I'm wondering if I have been wrong all along about this traffic rule.
Honestly, if there is a care behind me and I don't look back VERY carefully (while continuing to try to drive forward) at least one more if not 2 more times before executing my intentions I will hit the car that just appeared there as if queued to be there by my signal.
Am I unwittingly signalling the other driver to do this or is it that that up ahead they saw something up ahead, yelled "SQUIRREL!!!" and raced ahead to try to catch it? Have I been completely wrong on both counts all these years? Does my rear left turn signal actually tell other drivers to jump out in the left lane and pull up in my blind spot and lurk there until I hit them?
