Critique of Defunct Lowe's Iris system and better alternative

Note: Iam posting this here instead of on the Iris customer site because it keeps being rejected for "bad words", of which there were none, because I had no four letter words in it and I edited out words like "Crap" and "junk" associated with various mentions of Iris" and it still would not post. But I spent some time and thought on it, did not want to give up so  iam posting it here in my blog for the benefit of stranded Iris customers who cannot get real information such as what I have below from the crappy Lowe's controlled forum site.

I got my payment very quick so i don't think there is an issue for you if you got on it. Curiously I got the card in a USPS Priority registered mail envelope that appeared to have been sent by an individual rather than a company by the way it was sealed and labeled and return addressed. And it has to be signed for.

Other notes: Lowes seems to compensate for the retail cost of all equipment registered to your hub when you fill out the forms for the refund. For me that was a financial boon because I had bought most of my contact sensors on ebay for like half retail cost or less. They don't for instance, pay for third party universal equipment that you have and which will theoretically work with other systems. They didn't pay me for my camera, WHICH NEVER WORKED IN THE FIRST PLACE. They did not pay me for my gen 2 motion sensors. All and all, I got $600 back that fully funded a real security system (explanation below) plus about $100 for selling the Iris  stuff on Ebay and I got 2 items to go, their trashy camera and a (utilitech siren that I just sold) I kept one smoke alarm as a standalone.
.
explanation of Iris as not a "real security system: I( got a new system and monitoring company and now I know what actually home security is, am glad I got this economical opportunity to get rid of IRIS, that is at the top of the ratings on the internet that is three times as expensive per month with a 3 year contract. My new system  t is many, many times better, reliable that Iris ever was. It's  only drawback is the monthly cost, the upfront cost of the equipment is like twice that of IRIS equipment (and 10 times better quality and performance) and the contract. To get video monitoring with the system and home automation and use of the proprietary app costs $50 per month (ouch). just the security with fob entry it is $35.
.
the pros:my new system  is  entirely cellular based with a 24 hour battery backup which makes it  much more secure and responsive than(wifi)  Iris ever was from any device, whether it is a hub, a fob or the app. and the app features is simple, and not scattered all over. it's easy to install. And cheaper components like contacts and stuff can be bought on Ebay, but you'll need help from the customer service to install extra stuff (be sure it is compatible before you buy it). The equipment , twice to three times as expensive is also twice to 3 times as good. for instance, the motion detector can tell the difference between a pet and an intruder and lowes gen 1 contact sensors didn't even work and the gen 2 ones couldn't tell a 9 pound dog from a 150 lb intruder. They monitor your system and send you free batteries when you need them.Everything has a lifetime guarantee that you buy  directly from them.I am not naming my new company because I am not getting compensated to do so and it's not appropriate in this forum except to say that "you get what you pay for" certainly with lowes iris.  I pay more now and feel much better about my new system than I ever did Iris which at times was very aggravating, such as the app not working much of the time, having to stand at my window and repeatedly click disarm, before the system actually did so, and a supposed " smart" light switch which I never got compensated for, nor the camera. even when the camera was online I had to disable the motion detection because it was triggered by my 9 lb house pet like the other motion sensors.
.
a final critique of Lowe's and Iris: i t  seems to me that if Iris had the common sense (a rare commodity in the corporate world that only accompanies projects that aren't inspired by corporate greed and therefore only theoretically exists)   to have make the system standalone wifi like my other home wifi equipment instead of dependent upon a webpage, then it would have been more reliable, responsive  they would not have had to pay us a dime now. I mean, look at this (iris forum)website with the  pale gray font that I have to squint at to read with no spelling errors underlined! I think the Iris system and this user unfriendly page go well together., in the heap of internet history.

So, Goodbye Sweet Iris and GOOD RIDDANCE.
