Pixel 6a user review: I don't know if it's the phone or the Android OS but my pixel 6a doesn't work worth a darn in many different areas . I suspect honestly that most of it has to do with the fact that the Android OS, while slicker than ever, is more flawed than ever regarding important features that don't work at all or work correctly. There are a number of issues that persist even after updates or get worse after updates
#1 these are all issues that I've never been able to resolve since I got the phone six months despite having spending several hours trying.
#2 I just found out that the notifications for the assistant on my phone are off and locked and cannot be turned back on. Also, a topic in google help on it is also locked without a useable solution having been posted!
#3 my 6a has no memory card slot and no way to upload my personal music files into my phone for playing on my car system. Supposedly, when plugging the phone's USB to a PC a notification is supposed to pop up in the top area to switch from "charging to "data transfer" but it doesn't and no one at Verizon or Google will help me beyond giving me the instructions on how to switch between functions, which I told them doesn't appear.
#4 the night and day themes come on at will whenever with no control even whether I have them set to automatic or manual.
#5 and this is with all windows and android based devices these days: there are no black fonts anymore, just medium grey to pale grey ones that range in difficult to see to nearly impossible.
#6 The voice to type function has gotten even less accurate far worse than it has been with pasts Android versions. The program seems to have NO "context" programing to allow it to pick correctly between simple words like "in" or "and" in a sentence, nor for practically any other language conjunction or connector words. There doesn't seem to be ANY programing in this app for the app to make choices based on any contextual reference in the sentence and I know for a fact that it could have and should have this ability for want of investment of time and money to make it better, not to mention respect for Android users.
#7 also introduced in this version is "smart punctuation" for voice to text typing that is horrendously bad and which cannot be disabled, reset, retrained or anything.
