I'm tired of eggs with yolk the color of a banana with no taste. For young people who know know difference, good, tasty eggs used to have such deep yellow yokes that they bordered on being orange!
After noticing years ago that eggs didn't taste the way they used to and the difference in the color of the yokes, I've tried all of the brands, including the expensive ones making fanciful claims & the ones that just say "Grade A large Eggs" on the carton. I've tried the "organic" ones, the "free range" ones, the "grain fed" ones as well as the ones in the fancy cartons costing $4 a dozen that make all of those claims and more, which have the palest yokes and are the tasteless of all!.
All the eggs on the shelf all have perfect, uniform brown shells with no speckles and cracked open, pale yellow yokes that when cooked have no taste, which means that the ones which are supposedly raised from chickens that are fed right and treated right are not really not. I even have local chicken raising friends who gives me eggs from their chickens which are fed right and free ranging which are no better. So chances are, they got their hens as hatchlings at the local Tractor Supply, which undoubtedly were from the fertilized eggs of chickens genetically engineer, either the natural way by farmer selection or in the lab, to produce large, pretty, tasteless eggs.
But people, please stop being ignorantly fearful and realize that genetic engineering itself is not the culprit, it's the companies themselves and the supermarkets that direct their genetic engineers and their produce selectors to select and engineer food that is only bigger and more colorful on the outside. Like I told one Publix's produce manager after he explained to me how they pick the produce to put on the shelves by size and color alone, saying that customers don't taste the produce before they buy it so it doesn't matter (oh but I do! and once I found a bag of fresh "baby" carrots in Walmart that tasted like a mouthful of chemicals), telling me that the procurers never have and can't taste the produce they select:"When the farmer sees the wholesaler looking for size and color alone, he'll give them size and color alone and you just told me what has happened to the taste and nutrition America's fresh produce."
For the all the ignorant people railing about monster food from GMOs, both farmer selection and scientific tinkering are genetic engineering! The only difference is just one is done in an instant at the microscopic level and the other at the macroscopic level which takes many years to have an effect. Regarding eggs, that makes the farmers, supermarkets and shoppers the culprits, not the laboratory variety of genetic engineering, for the tasteless eggs because through the 1960s eggs tasted great. But sometime in the 1970s, the taste started going away and the yokes got paler. By the time I noticed it I was in my early 20s and totally ignorant of what was going on, which makes me and the rest of society ignorantly complicit. We should have noticed and protested after we ate the first tasteless eggs. But we didn't because we were engaged in the distractions of entertainment, sports & the latest trends and gadgets and very happy to be told by our handlers what is real and what is not real instead of bothering to try to figure it out for ourselves..
The classic example of what genetic engineering is and it's use is corn. Corn started out as a grass about 2 inches tall 40,000 years ago. So how the heck did corn get to tower 9 feet tall with fruit the size of my arm? Genetic engineering! Farmers over many millennia have been the selecting seeds of the biggest, tastiest, most succulent (until resent years) corn plants to replant.this process has done to corn what we today call genetically engineered because the genetic coding of today's corn is different in important ways from it's ancient ancestors, just like a modern shark's is from it's ancestors.
LIKE they say, "this isn't rocket science" to understand, people. This is, like, TAUGHT IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL! Noam Chomsky said: " to take apart the system of illusions and deception which functions to prevent understanding of contemporary reality [is] not a task that requires extraordinary skill or understanding. It requires the kind of normal skepticism and willingness to apply one's analytical skills that almost all people have and that they can exercise.".
He's saying that an average person with average intelligence can, that is if you want to put, forth the effort to figure out what is really going on, what the government is up to that it shouldn't be, or not up to what it should be, what business is up to and realize that instead of condemning genetic engineering, we should simply demand that the genetic engineers FIX EVERYTHING that they've screwed up in food supply for profit. That the egg cartons say a bunch of nice things about the way the egg inside is produced is evidence that we've been doing that recently, but not enough and not intelligently because the information on the cartons is lies and we protest the knowledge genetic engineering itself instead of what it has wrought by it's misapplication. Not only that, but there is a lot of unpublicized GMoing going on that is totally beneficial and is all thoroughly tested before hitting market shelves.
Back to the egg, Judging by the tastelessness of the egg and the banana yoke color they all have, all the eggs on the supermarket shelves, no matter their claims are on the packaging to the contrary, all are raised in prisons they can't move in their whole lives, fed nothing but corn, with business ends permanently pointed to an egg catching trough and daily injections of antibiotics and steroids to counteract the sickening effect of their environment and so they'll produce 2 giant, perfect looking (on the outside) but tasteless (and therefore nutritionless) eggs a day despite all the lies on the labels claiming otherwise.
All they have to do then is stop the cynical "profit alone" motivation for food production and out the window would go, among other problems all the food born infectious epidemics, and re-engineer the chickens to produce tasty, nutritious eggs with deep yellow yolks again. Then all the produce needs to be re-engineered back to the way it used to taste and then we no longer will have to extol, bribe and beg our children to "eat your vegetables!"
People, most of you HAVE NEVER even tasted an egg, a tomato, a banana, an apple, a grape, a carrot, broccoli or anything else "fresh" that tastes the way it's supposed to like I have (rarely, on occasionally), because if you had, #1 you'd be really POed about this like I am and #2 if such proper taste was available now,. trust me, you'd all be vegetarians and you would not be able to keep enough produce in the house for your children's voracious appetites for it.
There is a reason why America is the heart disease and cancer capital of the world and I just explained it to you. How do I know? Because i have lived with my eyes open, free from the blinding, enslaving effect of prejudices and fear (same thing) , am one of the rare ones of you who is not afraid of anything and actually pays attention and endeavors to figure things out for myself instead of blindly and lazily doing and believing what I am told to do and believe.
