Probably the most important film of our era, Requiem For The American Dream, by the most influential intellectual alive, Noam Chomsky, has been REMOVED from Netflix.
IN RFTAD, professor Chomsky systematically lays out A-Z how the ultra rich systematically subverted democracy, justice, and capitalism throughout the world for more profit, not to mention taxes they have not paid in many years, food, shelter, health care and the environment. The film has producers and a director who normally take credit for it being their film, but i am sorry the entire thing is interviews with Noam Chomsky, so it's his film. no offense, but any film featuring Noam Chomsky is his.
Netflix has RFTAD available for a few years. Now i just noticed, wanting to watch it again, that they have taken it off. What they have not taken off are all the idiotic conspiracy "documentaries' that have been up for years and years and years about Bigfoot, UFOs & Hitler, (a scapegoat distraction from the current fascists that Chomsky describes).
A few years ago when RFTAD appeared on Netflix, i wondered how long it would take The Establishment to take Netflix down and remove it. I thought about how they would do it. I ruled out a hostile takeover in favor of Disney buying out Netflix and running it into the ground by blanketing it with wall to wall reality shows like it did A&E and Discovery Channel.
But i haven't heard of a Disney takeover, so i guess Netflix has been a Disney Clone all along and was just pretending to be a vanguard of truth and one of the only mass media outlets for documentary style important journalism.
And of course Netflix has no venue for any criticism from it's members for me to voice this opinion.Instead, Netflix has a long history of shoving whatever down our throats such as videos that start when we hover over them to read that we cannot stop unless we click away; starting the next video without our consent so we cannot finish reading the credits & cannot click back to the! and the least annoying thing, but annoying nevertheless, when we freeze-frame to read something on the screen, of course in a few seconds the screen goes dark and we cannot see it anymore. Instead if we weren't done viewing the still, we have to go back and find it all over and freeze it and look for a few more seconds until it blurs out and goes dark.
And like i said, customers have been given no venue to voice our complaints, just like i can't yell directly at them: Can THE BULLSHIT Bigfoot, UFO and moon landing conspiracy "documentaries" and BRING BACK RFTAD, DICKHEADS.
Right now RFTAD is still available on Amazon PRIME, Pluto TV and Tubi TV.

Hi! Netflix doesn’t own the the documentary, which means they pay to rent it to be able to show it on their platform. They extend contracts with movies that are performing well and bringing them money every year (or whatever the terms of the contracts are). I’m pretty sure they didn’t remove the documentary because they are evil. Maybe a lot of people watched it the first year it was on Netflix so they extended the license for another year and it wasn’t profitable enough to continue. Maybe the producers (who own the movie) didn’t want to keep it on Netflix. You can actually find it on YouTube now.
